A relatively gentle ride through Leesburg, Bluemont, Middleburg, Purcellville, and Waterford with stops at cafes in Purcellville and Middleburg. The ride immediately starts with the well known gravel climb up Waterford road on the way to the first coffee stop at the Sweet Rose Bakeshop in Purcellville. A few miles past Purcelville, you’ll arrive in familiar territory at the Bluemont General Store. Heading south, you’ll hit Middleburg, Horse country! Grab a cup of coffee at Cuppa Giddy Up, then finish up the route heading northeast on unpaved roads back to Leesburg. This is a starter gravel randonneuring (GRANDO) route that can be done comfortably on 700x28s due to the surfaces primarily being hardpack; however there are extended sections of gravel roads up to 8 miles in length and 700x32 or larger tires would be the most comfortable. Approx 60% unpaved, 41 miles.
